When I cut-up my deer, I always save a few prime chunks off the hams for stew or carne guisada. Lazy me decided to try something new - Fiesta's Carne Guisada seasoning. I followed the directions on the bottle with the only difference being a can of beef broth substituted for some of the water when stewing the meat tender. No salt, pepper, tomato, onion, peppers, etc - nothing else added. Just the seasoning at the end for a 15 min simmer. It all thickened up & came out great! This was just to easy! food

THAT’s what I’m talking about! I use the same stuff. Nothing like pulling some fresh meat off a deer or pig at camp, firing up the cast iron pot, and making a carne g. up

I tried to find that at the store the other day and they didn’t have it. Will definitely be locating and trying soon!

I want to buy every Fiesta seasoning I see but they’re expensive. I stock big bottles of Fiesta steak and Fiesta fajita seasoning. Those two cover all my needs. Fajita seasoning plus corn starch will emulate the carne g seasoning very closely.

Hat tip to pertnear!
I ordered some Fiesta Carne Guisada seasoning from Amazon ( couldnt find at local stores) and cooked some venison Carne Guisada last night. Browned meat in skillet with a bit of Fiesta Fajita seasoning and tossed it in the crockpot with a chopped up Pablano pepper and a chopped Onion. Cook on low for 6 hours and then added some partially cooked diced potatoes for another 3 hours. Served with fresh Pico, chopped Cilantro and had some retried beans for the side dish.
Great meal, happy wife came home to a tasty hot meal that was fantastic! Great new use for Venison.

I found the spice but my refrigerator tossed its cookies Sunday so I’m out of the cooking business until the weekend.
