I've used landscape lights and they have performed very well, and have lasted a long time. I like this idea even better and will start phasing them in as my old lights give it up! Thanks for posting.

I can't figure out, from your pictures, just exactly how you mounted the magnets to the lights. The screws that come with the magnets were too small to get any purchase on the light case, so I went ahead and used a couple of small pieces of scrap wood and drove the screws into them to hold everything in place. It works fine, but I'm curious about how you did it on your set-up.

It looks like your light is slightly different than the one I purchased, and I used the wood screw that came with the magnets. Those screws were wide enough to drill into the light’s keyhole. I did grind down the screw, so it would not protrude on the opposite side of the keyhole.

OK, thanks, leswad. The screws that you got with your package of magnets must be large enough to grab the inside of the mounting hole in the lights. The ones I got were longer and skinnier, so I had to do the mods as shown. I'll sort through my wood screw collection to see if I can find a stubbier version. I will be grinding off the tips of the screws I used with my trusty Demmel tool.
