I’m wanting to see one in person. The owner of Q is already talking [censored] about it, guess he can’t handle competition and apparently his customer service sucks.

Wow. Finally sone coming out with a lightweight chassis rifle for hunting.

I'm sure the 277 Fury is 6.8X51 round they developed for the military trials. I think it's a necked down 308 with a steeper shoulder. .277x51 AI?

Probably because it's 1/2 the price of his.

Round sounds cool, I could do without the dumb chassis

Looks like it’s a big slap back in Q’s face

Most complete article I've seen about how they make the ammo work. SIAP

https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/277-sig-fury-demystified/

So they basically took a .308, hacked the case, sized it to .277 and loaded a powder that gets them 80k psi and the resulting velocity. I still can't fathom what they think they can coat the barrel with that will have it lasting beyond 600-1,000 rounds (my number, not theirs), if that.

One of the biggest douches in the gun industry, IMO. Some of their products are cool, but I refuse to buy any because he's such a di--head.

Can't wait to see this new Sig Rifle.

.277 bullet at around 3000fps in a 16" barrel in a short action cartridge. Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you end up with pretty much the same thing if you shortened the barrel of a .270 WSM? confused2

I’ve thought about necking up the 6.5 PRC to a 6.8 to push a 170 Berger. Case capacity is a fair bit lower than 270 WSM. Advantages would be better / more avail 6.5 PRC brass, more efficient case design, and easier on the throat than the 270 wsm. Just not enough high bc bullet options.

But a 7mm PRC... I was just talking to Derrick at horizon firearms and he recently did a 7-6.5 PRC in his personal rifle. Pushing 175 eldx at 2800 out of a 22” barrel suppressed. This beats my 280ai out of a 25” with exact same powder charge of h4831sc. Would make a nice light weight, easy handling mountain rifle

Yes he has. He used to work for Sig years ago. The guy is a total douche bag, you should see some of the posts he's made on Snipers Hide.

What is the difference in case capacity of the 280AI and 7mm prc?

Seems like possibly your load isn't taking advantage of all the case has to offer or his is just pushing the pressure envelope a little more.

Probably a little of both.

From what I understand, Sig has been working on this rifle for a long time, and Q or whateverthefuckhisnameis, was on that team to design it. He left during development and rushed his rifle to market before Sig.

They are running light for caliber bullets at velocities that create ballistic profiles achieved in short barrels with cartridges already in existence. Would they be overbore? Yes, would you need special steel/brass hybrid cases and 80k of pressure, NO.

Run the numbers-- if you can get a 6.5mm bullet of the same weight going around 2700fps from a 16" barrel it matches or beats the downrange ballistics of the Fury and does it will less wind drift and again, without some crazy case.

Same understanding. I think he's butt hurt to say the least.

Military wants a 6.8! They know best. laugh

I wonder what the ballistics are on the polymer cased entries.

I like the rifle Buzz. It's going to spark the next new hot thing which will be lightweight chassis hunting rifles. Everyone will have a model out soon because it makes so much sense.
