What age did you all take your kids to the deer lease/hunting? Maybe not necessary in the stand but on the property you hunt. Thanks for your info

Started taking all 4 of mine in the stand at 3-4 yrs old. They all started on their bb guns and learning basic gun safety at that time. Made lots of memories...

My oldest son was 2 when I first took him. He's now 19 has been going with me ever since.
My youngest was 10 when he decided he wanted to go hunting. He still likes to go but not as much.
I've never forced hunting on my boys and have never left them behind if they've asked to go up

We started taking the kids out to our hunting property when they were old enough to walk on uneven ground.
They were in the blind at 4-5 years old. Mostly short outings on fair weather days. Started out taking them on scouting trips to let them see deer and other game animals. We took those opportunity to teach them how animals react to noise movement and scent. Then progressed to actual hunting with them in the blind. Shot a buck while bow hunting with my son in the stand when he was 5 almost 6 yrs old. Field dressed the deer teaching him about the internal organs and how they are similar to ours. He carried out the heart, while I dragged the deer.
Lots of good memories. Now sharing them with my grandsons.

All 3 of my kids having been coming to the ranch since they were born. I started taking them dove hunting and to the deer blind occasionally at age 2. My now 8 year old son has really taken to it and has been with me just about every time I have hunted for the last 3-4 years.

my son was young, maybe 2 when he started wanting to go with me and granddad as that he could tell how excited we were on going. He normally sat with my dad early on as my dad wasn't overly concerned about the hunting as much as spending time with my son. They ate a lot of snacks and carried on conversations about what to watch and look for. By the time he was 3-4, he had learned to be some what quiet and split time between our two stands. He also spent the night and ate with the rest of the hunters. He killed his first deer at 5 after successfully passing tests by both my dad and I for safety and accuracy.

my daughter was much older, maybe 10 or so before she showed any interest and was much older before taking a deer, maybe 16-17?

each kid is different and will show interest when they are ready and given the opportunity.

When they were old enough to wipe their own arse. I still prefer to only take one at a time or it starts to feel like daddy day care. If I take both the youngest tries to do stupid [censored] to impress his brother. One at a time and everyone behaves. They’re 8 and 11. The only time I take both is when I’m cutting a trailer full of firewood, I cut and they load.

My son started at 4-ish and my daughter made her first hunting trip at 6 this past thanksgiving. 6 was when both of them started shooting starting with a bb gun and progressing up from there, 22 bolt action, semi auto 22 and now AR. Son isn't big enough to absorb recoil of a bolt action rifle, at least none of mine and he's 8, almost 9 but small in stature.

You have to sacrifice the hunt but it's time well spent with your kids. Bring snacks and drinks and have patience. Also wise to bring ear muffs in case one of you shoots.

4 years old. Mainly fished and hiked then. Have duct tape since they love falling on prickly pear!

Started taking mine before they could walk, both are girls( young ladies now). They've grown up out there, have fond memories and still making them. They even brought friends at times, I've got years of pictures of kids piled in the back of the truck or on the mules riding around having a good time. Taught several of their friends to drive and let them experience things their parents never would have introduced them too.
My oldest was shooting deer and cleaning them herself by age 8, my youngest didn't quite get interested in shooting deer until she was 12.
I've got one picture, that keeps popping up on my computer, of them helping each other clean a deer. They couldn't have been any older than 8 and 6.
My oldest just came in from college last night and the first thing she asked was when are we going to the lease. Looks like we'll be heading out tomorrow night.
Get them out, if they have the interest. Even if they don't, take them and let them decide if they want to go back.

We started going with dad as kids, probably 5-6 years old. I started taking mine asap, before they could walk or talk.

If I had it to do over I wouldn't start mine till 5-6 like my dad did. I think the being left behind a few years leaves a stronger want/desire to go. My boy likes hunting and fishing, but is nothing like the interest I showed at his age.

Six years old always seemed to work best for me, I would make the hunt short and let them bring something to entertain themselves and when deer started moving I would give them the binoculars to watch and talk about what they were seeing. Kids can take a lot in and at that age retain some knowledge that helps them in future hunts.

I’ve changed plenty of diapers in the stand. I’ve built two blinds specifically for taking my kids. Foam insulated with residential windows. Close to sound proof

I have 2 girls who are mid to late 20s now......my youngest took an interest when she was about 4, so we started with a pellet gun on tin cans. I took her with me at 6 and she shot her first kill, a nice turkey with a .22. We busted out a lot of deer on that hunt because it got so cold I could see it wasn't fun anymore for her because she was freezing her little tail off so we opened up the blind surrounded by deer and headed to the truck to warm up, lol. I transitioned her to hogs for the next few years until she asked me about killing a deer.....my fondest memories are with her coming home from college and going hunting together..........cheers

Started at 6 with my oldest. He is 9 now and started carrying a gun last year. Unfortunately he hasn't got to pull the trigger on anything yet dur to the hunting being tough on our place. We hunted yesterday and didnt see anything but we have fun. His little brother just turned 6 and this weekend will be his first trip. My dad will be with us and he will take him and I'll take the oldest in Hope's he finally gets one.

My oldest loves to read so he takes his kindle and reads and helps him stay quiet and focused.

Started taking a Grandson when he turned about 4. His Mom wouldn’t let him go until he got “big”. We sat in a tower. He had his Gameboy video game to pass the time. He also had his BB gun. He got to take the first shot. If it wasn’t a clean kill, I had to finish it off with my 30-06. When he turned 6 he got a 4 point with Grandmas 222. He was super excited and grabbed my phone to call Grandma. I reminded him that he also needed to call his parents. Grandma told him that he could have the 222.

He is now 21, 6’5”, and he and another young fellow that started coming when he was 8 or 9 took over the feeder filling this year. They love the place and have started hauling females along to introduce to hunting. The girls are enthusiastic but I’m not all that sure it is the hunting is what interests them. I’ve recently reminded them that the place is our home away from home. I do like the idea that they enjoy the place to get away from the city and they do haul off the trash including beer cans. They pretty well dump females that don’t put up with their hunting and fishing .

Their parents don’t hunt or fish but have put up with what they call the monsters that I have created. Over the years there have been other kids but they figured out that the rural stuff just wasn’t for them.
