Jeremiah Johnson is my #1, despite the music sucking pretty bad.

I'm one of the few that likes Out of Africa. The wife can't stand how slow it is. I have a first edition of the book by Isak Denison (Karen Blixen) that I think I paid 2 or 3 dollars for at a used book store, so that probably has something to do with it. But, the music definitely does not suck in this movie.

Last of the Mohicans is way up there. Can't read the book - the language has just changed too much.

I also like The Apostle that Robert Duvall funded himself. True life, redemption, and faith. I think it helps to like it if you were raised Evangelical (or at least Baptist, like me.)

Pretty much my list as well....but, in deference to Bill, I’d have to add Sound of Music.

And add The Godfather (1 & 2).

And just for fun, Night Shift with Michael Keaton and Henry Winkler.

1. Cinderella Man

2. Greatest Showman

No need for me to think any further. You won't find two movies anywhere that pay greater respect to being a good and faithful husband and father.

If you younger guys like the movie The Shawshank Redemption, I would suggest you go back and watch the original 1973 version of the movie Pappillon with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. Two of the industry's greatest actors in perhaps their best overall acting performance.

"Wrongfully convicted for murder, Henri Charriere (Steve McQueen) forms an unlikely relationship with fellow inmate and quirky convicted counterfeiter Louis Dega (Dustin Hoffman), in an attempt to escape from the notorious penal colony on Devil's Island."

Avoid the remake of the movie at all costs.
