I hadn’t been in the stand for a while, so zero hunting pressure on our place. I was after the big hog my neighbor and I have seen, and here he came. About 100 yards off. I had grabbed the 223 again, with that little GK bullet. The hog slowed down and I tapped him, not so sure that I had the right hog medicine this time. He was big. And I wasn’t sure I had placed the bullet that well. Drank a Diet Coke and walked over to about where he had been. Wasn’t expecting much blood and I wasn’t sure there’d be a dead hog, but blood everywhere. Big blood trail about 20 yards into some weeds, and there was a big smelly dead hog. That little bullet impressed me again. Tore that hog up. Amazing what that bullet can do, even without perfect placement.
Tomorrow I’ll take a closer look at the bullet path.

Fast bullets can cause some trauma.
I shot a mule deer with a 22-250 right behind the shoulder about 1/3 up from belly (so there was no blood trail). The mulie traveled about 30 yards with a limp of left front leg. When I gutted it, there was a ton of blood in the heart lung cavity. And, there was one entry hole through a rib, but no exit. Now, when I went to remove the front left shoulder, there was so much traumatized meat that I was not able to use any of that shoulder nor the neck. Amazing what a little ballistic tip 55 gr bullet traveling at 3,700 fps will do

The 65 SGK is a great little bullet that definitely punches above its weight class. Good penetration and balanced expansion.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?
