Anyone going to hunt the floydada complex? Is this a new area or been around? Last year I thought the Abernathy and Petersburg units were pheasant units but doesn't show to be the case this year. Trying to find some places closer to Lubbock to take my boy out than having to go to Hereford. Thanks!

Well we went out to unit 2529. Some of it looked birdy, but only saw a jack rabbit and lots of crane flying over to land on wheat to the section east of us. Dog worked hard and boy had fun being there. It was good to be out but doesn't look to be much there. Unit 2530 which is connected to the north looked birdy on the south side but most of it is grazed down and there's no water. Its only a crane/duck unit but theres no chance of any of those on that unit. Ran into a couple guys that had just left the units by lockney. They said there were pheasant hunters there that didn't see any birds. They did say that there were some geese hunters there fillin there limits. Well, it was a good warmup to next weekends Hereford trip where we do well every year. Hope this info helps anyone lookin at these units. Have a great season

When I was at school in Lubbock we would scare them up dove hunting the public areas in Floyd County but when we went back during pheasant season they were nowhere to be found. I killed plenty of doves while out there but not a single pheasant.
