Just a heads up the Wyoming application info will be posted on the WG&F website this coming week and the application period for elk is Jan.1-31 with the drawing in June. You'll have until May to change or withdraw your application then the drawing in early June or late May. The state pushed for the later drawing so that the population estimates and quotas would be set for the seasons. The WOGA, outfitters association, pushed for the January application deadline instead of making it in May or so.
Looking like a good winter is brewing up here, lots of snow so far, but the elk should be fine.

We sure appreciate the heads up. I'll bet there is an outfitter or two that is reading this that wishes you hadn't. I love it!

They know it was their baby to have an early application deadline, who could blame them. The commission pushed back for the later drawing, after quotas are set instead of before. It may affect the timing of their bookings but I'm betting not the number of clients. Whether a NR chooses an outfitter or DIY, we have some great elk hunting. Those outfitted migration hunts would be amazing if hit just right.

I would not declare " a good winter is brewing", in mid December, LOL. Pretty early to make that statement definitely . Hoping you are right, but a heck of a lot of winter is yet to come.

Well, we've got more snow pack now than we had this time last year so it's off to a good start. We've been busting drifts already to feed the horses and it's not going anywhere any time soon. I'll bet on 4 more months at least of snow and cold, maybe 5. We've had winter for 2 months already, it's here .
