Here is my math question. I have a lot that I live on and I’m trying to figure out how big it is. You know 1/4 , 1/2 acre.
The dimensions are 85’ across the front , 235’ across the back, 191’ down one side and 136’ down the other. What percentage of an acre do I have?? This is above my pay grade.
Thanks

Go to Google Earth. Find your place. Click on Path and select "Acres". Trace your boundary lines. You're done.

235 X 136 = 31,960 ÷ 2 = 15,980 sq/ft

191 X 85 = 16,235 ÷ 2 = 8,117.5

15,980 + 8,117.5 = 24,097.5 sq/ ft

Acre is 43,560 sq/ ft

24,097.5 ÷ 43,560 = .55320 Acre

I checked cotton acreage in the summer when I was in college. We used chains. You just stumped me.

CRs Google Earth idea is the best, or more information would be needed, like angles or corner to corner measurements.

Assuming it has 2 right agles in the shape. I came up with .5 acres.

If there are no right angles, I agree with Fireman.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

43560 square feet in an acre.

85' + 235' = 320 divided by 2 = 160'
136' + 191' = 327 divided by 2 = 163.5'
160 X 163.5 = 26160 sq ft
26160 divided by 43560 = .60055 acre

Couldn't you just use the sum of the 4 sides and express that as a percentage of an acre? Thus .775 of an acre. Math was not my strong suit in school.

Need one angle in addition to the lengths of the sides to be able to figure it.

edit: Assuming the sides are straight. smile
