If you're having the work done you might want to check with the mechanic/shop. My mechanic can get parts cheaper than I can even using price matching.

What's wrong with Auto Zone? I don't buy a lot of parts but usually go there out of convenience. I'll never go back. They give a caller priority over a customer at the counter about to pay out Ask me how I know. My biggest pet peeve. I'm standing there with money in hand and they make me wait while they talk to some douche on the phone who's probably just checking prices.

I have a buddy that’s owned a good auto shop for several decades. He told me not to buy AZ parts. Said they look the same as good parts but they’re not the same. Good enough for me..:

Good enough for me..: Im sure your buddy is right and has a lot more experience than I do, but I also consider oreilly the equivelent to AZ. I do remember reading that their are not many companies doing parts , they just get different lables from the store that are going to sell them. Its probably the same factory making the parts and the parts with looser tolerances go to AZ and oreilly.

Oddly enough, when he told me that, he also told me O’Reilly’s was OK. he said he didn’t know why, and the parts looked alike, but AZ parts just weren’t quite right and wouldn’t last.

BTW AutoZone's stock price hit a new all-time high today after earnings announcement...$1261.00/share. They must be doing something right.

Well fellas, take it for what you want. Havent drove the truck in about 8 years. Recently tried and fuel pump was out. I pulled the tank to find a horrible mess that is going to cause me to get a new tank and electric pump.
For the parts napa, oreilly, AZ, summit all sold the same parts. Same maker and part number. Well some had a different name BUT SAME PART NUMBER as the others. Price was up to 100 dollars difference for the same part number from a different store. Last night I ended up buying my tank from AZ and the fuel pump from summit . Reason being is the the low cost and availability. It took me a couple hours to find the best price, with my local stores, and no one really has time for that. I would assume you might even find a better deal with some of the online places. I didnt check the online stores.

I don't do any hard-core repairs, but Amazon for most maintenance stuff. Walmart for oil and batteries; although I got a heck of a deal two weekends ago on 0W20 at Sams. Since I take my used oil there, I buy light bulbs every once in a while from AZ. O'Reilly's and Nappa are too far from my house and I would probably pass two AZ's and a Walmart getting to them.
Thanks, Rich
