Where is the best place to get 12 gauge blanks for dog training? I've always just used cheap lead loads but looking into blanks for the first time.

I would bet that the cheapest promo loads are similar price if not cheaper. Why not just trim off the crimp and dump em out? Melt the lead for fish weights or something later.

I bought mine from either Gun Dog Supply or Lion Country. Check both websites. They were inexpensive and reliable. They have poppers and blanks. I bought the primer only 12 gauge shells. perfect for an O/U.

I use a blank gun that shoots 209 primers. Much easier to carry in the field while training.

12 ga blanks are 10.00-13.00 per box. Use lead shotgun shells.

got home last night, cut the end off of 3 dove loads, dumped out the lead, loaded them in my shotgun, and they worked perfectly. cycled great and had no kick, at all. it was like shooting a cap gun.

Thanks for that tip laid over. This is way cheaper than buying blanks or poppers.

Fill the cut off shells with a "load" of confetti, and a little tissue paper to "crimp" it in place. clap
