Does anybody have any experience with Discount Tires patching tires after using fix a flat? I have a very slow leak and really don't have time this week to do anything other than airing it up and running it or Fix A Flat. I plan to get it fixed and rotate tires next weekend. If Discount does not want to fix it with Fix A Flat in it then I may just run it. I will be getting new tires before next deer season. I have enough experience using the stuff to know that it is going to work at least on a temporary basis if not until I get new ones.

not sure ... I would call Discount and ask ... I know I would hate to try to put a patch in a tire that had fix-a-flat

Is it for a truck/car for highway use or an offroad only vehicle?

If it is car or truck used onroad, they probably won't mess with it after fixaflat is put in as it softens the rubber to make it seal.
If it is an off road only vehicle, put slime in it instead.

This is best answer if you bought them at DT.

If you know where the leak is plug it. Have you checked the valve stem core for leaks?

That is the issue. I don't have time before the next trip. I only takes air once a week so I will air it up Friday morning. If I need to hit the rough roads at the lease I will use the ATV

X3 - I caught a long construction screw couple months ago and they patched it right up. My tire was bigger the the guy fixing it! They did see if I was in their system. This was my new truck so this tire wasn’t from them. No problemo and no charge.

They are great about fixing flats for free. I brought in a tire from a Great Plains seeder recently that had a Fix a Flat type of substance in it (green slime). They fixed for free. Tire came with the seeder and wasn't a size they had seen before.

The area of Texas I hunt in is filled with mesquite. Can't image how much I would've spent over the years if I had to pay for every flat.

I was in a pinch a couple months ago. Had my tire pressure indicator go off on a Sunday before a 4 hour drive. Firestone wanted to charge me $35 to fix it. Seemed to be a slow leak so I drove on it anyway and waited until Monday. Got it patched at Discount Tire for free. That tire came with the vehicle - they fixed for free anyway.

I ordered new tires for an ATV last week and am having them installed this weekend. I found the tires cheaper online but gave Discount Tire my business for all the free repairs they've done for me over the years.

Bought one of these years ago and have had great luck with them on more trailer car suv and non e-rated pickup tires than I could shake a stick at. If you can find your leak without unmounting the tire you can most of the time fix it on the vehicle.

My cautions is they do not work well o n E range tires and if used in tires that already have slime in them sometimes they will seep the liquid part of the slime through the plug.

FYI....I have done this 3 times with Discount Tires:
Find tires on line at less price.
Go to Discount Tire and have them match the price....they will.

Yep, I know they have rotated my tires since my free rotations from Toyota ended. No need for the Fix a Flat. Leak is very small. I can hold off until next rotation to j.g ave them check ut.

Just be sure they know fix-a-flat is in the tire. They air it down before breaking the bead, but when that bead breaks that stuff can still fly everywhere.

I have been told by numerous tire shops that they won't touch a repair job on a tire that's had fix-a-flat in it. They claim the tire won't balance correctly ever again. I think they just don't want to go to the trouble to clean it, because its a PITA.

Get a plug kit for temporary fixes and learn how to use it. Easy peasy and you don't risk ruining the tire when you go to get it fixed (which is a patch/plug combo).

I have one and know how to use. I have heard that Discount Tire will not patch a tire that has been plugged. Neighbor told me this. I have not verified.

Don't leave home without it or a 12 volt pump that plugs into your cigarette lighter. DTC does not meet you at the back 40.

Even easier than a plug is a sheet metal screw. Just put glue on it before screwing in. FYI discount tire won’t repair a tire if it’s 1” or closer to edge of tread. They’ll want to sell you a new tire.

That's a pretty neat fix right there! Thanks!

I put road hazard on all my tires. I’ve had several tires replaced no questions asked by DT.

Discount if you have time.

Fix a Flat if you're really pressed for time and can't find the leak.

Meskin tire shop, 10 min. and $10.

Plug it yourself.

my policy on road hazard is the same as extended warranties. I never buy on anything. Saved thousands by this policy On my trucks I have not replaced a tire prematurely in 30 years and go in to some nasty places.

Discount is great if you have a lease specific vehicle out side of that, their fees price them out.

You’re a fool if you negotiate with them. That being said, lots of people bitch about their prices, yet go there all the time for free air, flats fixed, and tire rotations.
