My daughter shot a deer on Saturday morning. The shot was high into the front shoulder. We though the deer was down for the count. After heading back to the camp for 45 minutes, we decided to go recover the deer. We jumped the deer and he ran off. We decided to back out and call for Dogs. We called Cecilia Steele out of Eldorado. When they got there with the dogs, we showed her the small amount of blood we had found. We only had one small spot of blood to go on. The dogs were amazing, within about 30 minutes they had found the deer buried deep in a bush. The deer was approximately 400 yards from the blood spot. Cecilia and her dogs were amazing. I would recommend her for any recovery. Very fair price as well.

Catahoulas. She brought 2. One was the primary tracker, and the other was in case the deer was still alive.

Hey Mustangcoach - I shot a deer Sunday AM in Concho County about 745am. Shot was a little low (got bottom of the lungs) but I knew I had blown out the front leg on the opposite side of entry. I trailed him for about 100 yards before deciding to back out and give him a few hours to die. I got Cecilia's name from a guy who knows a guy directly familiar with her search and recovery of your deer. She came out Sunday afternoon about 230pm, bringing one Catahoula (male), and a pit mix (female). I had marked the blood trail beginning where I first found some, about 40 yards away from the spot of the initial hit. To my surprise, she wanted to start the Catahoula at the point of impact. I thought to myself that I had personally seen at least 12 deer in that spot during the hunt, so I was a bit surprised that the location would help the dog in any way. The dog started zig-zagging away from the spot, showing little if any extra focus on the blood trail. I suppose he didn't need the blood trail since he was already on the deer. He was able to identify the buck's scent from jump, and locked onto it immediately. To make a long story short, 5 minutes and 500 yards later the Catahoula started baying. We were trailing behind approximately 175 yards, and they cut the female loose to go help the male. The buck was alive, albeit not doing well. We were able to subdue and finish him, and although if I'd continued my search later I may have found and dispatched him myself, the fact that the dog found him so quickly completely changed my perspective with regard to this resource for future tracking jobs. They really saved my day and at an extremely reasonable price.

It's so fun watching dogs with a specific job go and execute that job. Glad you made a recovery.

Im on the west end of Schliecher county and the broom weed is so bad you don't see the deer unless you stand on it...my border collie found 4.... three drt within 100 yds in daylight the last one was 300 yds in the dark that took about 30 mins. Watching dogs work in any way is just awsom, Cecilias's, dogs sound like they have it down.

First time we ever called in a dog was last year on a liver shot. First time I've ever seen one work. We used Wesley Adams from the bloodtrackers website (I see Cecilia also on that site). Took all of 20 minutes to find it...about 200 yards in thick stuff. I'm a believer.
