If stuff like this continues, things will go bad quickly. There will be a tipping point where officers see the active shooter's vehicle in front of them, and rather than initiating a rolling gun battle, they won't say a word and will take the next exit out of self preservation. It will start happening, the absolute courage to be in a gunfight will be there, but the fear of the consequences in this new era of extreme police accountably, will make them not engage.

Texas has a peace officer exemption for situations like this. Chapter 9.51

That's not absolute. A prosecutor can still argue the officer's actions weren't reasonable under the circumstances. When you have words like reasonable and belief, they can always be argued. That's the problem I see with the direction things are going - lawyers are trying to change what is or is not reasonable for officers.

Nope, the labor organizations make sure we don't get fired for no good reason and represent us for promotional issues ect ect, but if we get indicted, the monthly membership dues don't cover criminal defenses. He's in for a horrible ride unfortunately.
