How is the best way to extend the shaft on a 12 volt replacement feeder motor? Thanks

Most feeder motors are not a 1/4" shaft so that extension probably won't work.

That's probably the most reliable thing to do.
They already dance and vibrate and an extension is asking for trouble on the small, slick shaft.

What kind of motor is it? The big 12v with the 1/4” shaft or the little one with the 1/8”?

It will be the bigger one with 1/4 inch shaft. I have a lamco and another one on order but I was looking at doing something similar to my current barrel feeders. I was thinking if I inverted the motor inside the barrel I could make a plate with savers like the lamco. I would mount my control box to barrel or the barrel band. That way nothing would be hanging down under the barrel for hogs to tear up. Any suggestions?

Thanks for everyone’s help. Looks like lamco has updated their site since I looked at it last and has everything I need to try this. Thanks again!

They mount the motors on all their road feeders and stand and fill upside down. I would be surprised if they didn’t have everything you need. If you need longer motor wires, they probably have that too since the motor wiring runs a few feet to the control box on the stand and fills.
