I don't really like this shot. As the hog's head was down in the weeds, I was trying to clip the back of the skull but barely missed, but missed I did and the bullet only went through hide and neck muscle, missing the skull and missing the spine. However, the Custom Reloads of Dallas Hornady ELD-M 130 gr bullet from my Grendel opened up quickly and apparently created enough damage to nearly central nervous system structures through hydraulic or hydrostatic shock in order to do the job. As it turns out, I could not have found this hog soon enough. The whole area around the hog was surrounded by small rooting excavations about 4-5" deep and 1-2 feet across, spaced out every 2-4 yards. He had been busy for a pretty good while before I arrived.
