Read a lot about it over the years but never had the opportunity.

The trout stockings brings out the retirees. Some of the places will look like a rec area for nursing homes.

Might try to do it again with the kids this year.

When I was a kid we did it with mom and dad and I remember them being some of the tastiest little fishes I had ever eaten. Took my boy the last few years and the trout are about 2-3 times the size of what we caught as kids but have a very fishy taste to me.

Back when they used to stock then in Irving at Northwest Park, I see they have decided to leave Irving off the list now of days. I would watch the cormorants probably eat half the population in the first days, It was like they read the paper and knew when they were going to be stocked

I sometimes fish a small pond that's near me and on the schedule to be stocked. I remember the time I was fishing there and noticed a cormorant (or some other tall bird you often see hanging around water or ditches) standing near the water's edge some distance away. When I caught a very small fish, he flew over and landed close to me and looked at me as if to say, "You gonna eat that?" I couldn't resist throwing it on the ground next to him. He thanked me and went on about his way.

This has been my experience. I took my son to one of the locations two years ago, it was lined with lawn chairs and coolers.

I might have to check this out, a couple of these are really close to my house.
