This buck worked the licking branch and scrapes around this Live Oak tree yesterday evening. He freshened up 3 scrapes around this tree and hit every licking branch. In these pics you can see the buck using all the scent glands on his head and face to mark the licking branch.

He then moved to the back side of the tree and finally to the opposite side for these pics.

Neat pics. I had an 8 pt opening morning doing the same except no scrape. Very fun and interesting to watch.

I have watched doe using their scent glands around the face to identify their seniority, when a new group shows up the doe will approach each other and sniff their scent glands, and then ears roll back and the senior doe takes control. It’s been really an eye opening experience for me to see that this year.

Watched a buck working several scrapes around a tree last night. Did the exact thing the pictures show. Fun to watch.
