So I'll be going to the Chapp the beginning of December. Anyone have any tips or tricks? Hows the cell service down there?

Phone service is typical south Texas. ATT is great, you may or may not have coverage with T-Mobile or Sprint, depending on tower locations. If you have Verizon, you're screwed!!!
Enjoy the experience, take lots of pictures (I love emerald jays), brush in whatever blind you use really well, and don't pass on nice bucks looking for one of the giants!

Hunt trails or find trails that converge.. I found an area that I thought looked good, when on the second to last day i found a trail that led to a travel corridor and found converging trails and deer sign, scrapes and rubs.. so look for sign and see if you can find the convergence of trails that look traveled. I saw a big 8 I probably could have got a shot off at if I had been there sooner. take a pop up and blend it in and place downwind of the trails or have two set ups if there is a north wind. ambush them and put our corn, but I wouldn't throw tons of corn. Good Luck

I'll be on this same hunt! Thanks for the input guys!!!
Hopefully one of us THF'ers bags a monster! But, I'll be happy with any harvest. Heck, just being at the Chap will make me happy!

Got drawn 3 years ago. Didn’t get a deer, but it was not due to lack of opportunity. Had a really nice 150ish buck that I was never able to get near but saw him most every day. The nice Deer will Avoid established highly used blinds. The deer there generally respond extremely well to corn. I have best luck Corning senderos the first day and seeing there the deer come out. Set you the next day in that area. Have fun!!!!! The chap is a special place!!!

Oh I have Verizon cell service and had no problems. Glad to hear this. It would be nice to be able to google earth scout my compartment after laying eyes on it.

I have verizon also, so hearing this is a bit of a relief. I've had to drive a ways to make phone calls from certain places and it can be a PITA.

I'm actually staying in Cotulla at a hotel for this particular hunt so I'm sure I'll have a decent sig there. Was definitely worried about out in the brush country though. My luck, it will still be bad. Oh well! I'm pumped either way!

Stay away from fire/smoke or your trip most likely will be a waste of time. Good luck.
