ODESSA, Tx. (KOSA) --- The Odessa Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead overnight.

The following comes from the Odessa Police Department:

An Odessa man is dead following a murder that occurred last night in Northwest Odessa.

On November 21, 2019 at approximately 2056 hours, Odessa Police responded to the 1700 block of North Dotsy in reference to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers observed a deceased male subject with a gunshot wound, lying down outside of his residence. The decedent was later identified as Brandon Swinney, 42 years of age.

Investigation revealed that Swinney had just returned to his residence and exited his vehicle before being shot by an unknown subject. The suspect then fled the scene before officers arrived. There were no reports of any other injuries and next of kin were notified.

At this time no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information in reference to this incident is encouraged to contact the Odessa Police Department or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS.

I read the San Angelo Online paper, it usually includes a story or 2 about some of the crazy stuff happening in Odessa, and the other prominent places in the oil patch. Some are really good for laugh or 2.

I was born in Kermit, but raised in odessa. Left in 1968 for the Marines, best thing I ever did. Had to go back for relatives funerals. Took 5 hours to get from San Angelo to odessa due to stopping and puking due to getting closer to odessa. All my relatives from there have died, and I GUARANTEE you, if Jesus showed up there and told me I'd have to come there to save my soul--send me on to hell--I'll handle it better than returning to odessa.

Dallas has been having one or two homicides nightly. It's turning into another Detroit. Similar leadership, similar results.

I’m not even sure why this made the news.

Yeah I knew him through other friends. The story keeps getting crazier. Apparently the shooter was hiding in his carport for over an hour waiting on him to get home.

bs

I think I’d take ODESSA any day over Hell. I’m hoping I don’t have to move back there but this post seems a little over dramatic. It’s not that bad and I’d have been living there for the last 5 years if I didn’t have kids. It is a good place to be from. I’d take ODESSA over Houston any day!
