Low fence deer usually jump over, I'm not aware if high fence deer typically go under or over.
It a good idea to frequently check low spots, water crossings etc to ensure animal don't create ruts under fencing. Doesn't matter what part of the state you're in.

Rutting 'periods' are the same under high fence as free ranging. There may be a difference in intensity...owing to buck/doe ratios....but the photo-period/rut is not influenced by fence height or the ability of deer to travel. Keep in mind not all does will be in estrous at the same time (same goes for free ranging).

The only ruts I get under the HF is from coyotes or hogs.

Is it the same as low fenced deer? talking out near Bandera, TX Depends on the high fence and pressure. But the general answer is yes, they will react close to the same.. Now if it is a small high fence that is more of a breeding facility the deer do not fight as hard, and it may not have the same effect. This is one of the reasons High fenced ranches will kill off the native deer, as usually they will kill high fenced breeder bucks as they are more aggressive and fight harder during the rut than a deer raised in a high fence. When in doubt use a good scent first (estrus) and wait until you see the buck's glads start to darken from rutting.

If there is rutting activity and a north wind, you might want to check out the south side of the high fence. Bucks will sometimes hang out there curling their lips.

It depends on how big the pen is, and the buck doe ratio of those deer in that pen.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Yep. I see it quite often. Works like a charm.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

and a tip...... don't rattle under the HF, there aren't any deer there; but rather inside and yes it works like a charm as long as competition for the ladies is high.
