As many of you have already heard this before, Ive gotten it 2x this year. My 4yr old wants me to take her hunting. So, Im gonna throw this out there to see what I can find. Im not looking for a trophy hunt, just something I can take her out , sit in a stand and maybe kill a cull buck or a couple does. I appreciate any help with the matter....

Not trying to hijack your post but i know exactly what your going thru. My 5 year old little man got the ok from momma to go hunting with me this year, just dont have anywhere to take him.. Im following to see if you get lucky and find a place to take your little one. Good luck and maybe we will both get the opportunity to get the kiddos out this season! Even to sit and shoot some pigs with them would be a blast rifle

might look down in the guides section to find something within driving distance from where ever you are located ... (since neither of you list location under your user names).

Hell ive wanted a lease all my life but cant afford these crazy prices, so always hunted public. Just dont feel safe taking my 5yr old into the pumpkin patch if ya know what i mean. Thanks for the advice tho and ill keep my eyes open

there are also a number of different Facebook groups where reasonable priced day, weekend, weekday, etc. hunts can be had for culls, does, axis does, etc. ... that is if you use Facebook.

You might call around some of the HF ranches and see if they need help batting cleanup on does at the end of the season.

When my boy was that young, I used to go to public land and take him rabbit and squirrel hunting with me. Trust me. He will get bored in the stand. He will be much less bored walking around looking for squirrels and rabbits. If your's is like mine, he'll find bones and rocks and will will pick them up and take them home. Have a ball and enjoy. Save the long sits for when they are a little older.

Great advice, most 4 year olds are not ready to fire a rifle on their own at big game animals IMO...........

my two oldest grandsons (4 & 3) can sit for a while as long as there is an iPad handy with one of the movies they really like. But I agree, when my son was that age, there weren't any such thing as a iPad or handheld games to play, and he could get bored really easy unless there was something to see. Thankfully, there are always birds, squirrels, rabbits, armadillos, etc. to watch

Poetry hunting club near Terrell has free range deer hunts very reasonable. Sorry, don't have the number. Good luck to y'all.

OP,

You may want to check this program out - https://tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/hunt/youth_hunting/tx_youth_hunt_program/

https://www.tyhp.org/

Wish I would have found about this with my youngest was still a small kiddo.

Hopedale made a great recommendation, I did several hunts with TYHP and my boys. Great group of leaders and experience for all... at the right age. I don't know if TYHP will allow a hunt where you're pulling the trigger.

I took my boys for their first duck hunts to a pond Walter has 7-8 years ago. He really enjoys having kids come out and there were always lots of deer on the place when we there to duck hunt. Nothing fancy, not expensive, but a safe place to do what I think you're looking for.
