Yes, I am a day late and a dollar short. Finally got the game cameras out 2 weeks ago. Just picked them up. Can anyone say "holy brow tine"! Longest I have ever seen on my place. Deer look great this year. Some bigger than normal bodied deer with more antler mass than usual. This years rain fall has been very kind to us. Gonna be a good year.

Looks almost like a double main beam. I wonder if it was cause by an injury?

That's what I see in the first pic.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Yea, it could just as easily be that as well. It’s hard to tell. It does look like it is not separate from the main beam so for that reason I thought it might be considered his brow time. However I am no official scorer. Definitely unique and worth hunting.

I saw him in person last night. While the brow tine is impressive he actually appears to still be a young deer based on his body features. Definitely worth the risk of letting him grow another year and maybe even out as a 10 point. Beautiful deer, but there are more mature bigger deer to be shot.

Sometimes a tuff call to make, but I find I enjoy watching them year to year as much and if they hang around the payoff is good! I just wish my wife would see it that way lol.

Well....took the 12 yo out for the first time this year. We had a big 9 point on the list. He showed himself for a brief 60-90 seconds while he quickly darted in and out of brush re-marking his territory. It was too quick for the young one to get set up. I tried grunting to get him to come back and investigate. It didn’t work. That leads back in to the start of this thread, the “Brow Tine”. He came in around 5:20 and my son was all smiles. I told him I had seen him last week in person, he was smaller than the one we had briefly seen earlier but he did have some really unique antlers. His response was, “Dad, I really need to shoot hay buck.” Green light is all your sons. He pushed in his ear plugs and got setup on the 6.5 creed. I told him to wait for my signal for a clear broadside shot. He quickly gave us one and I gave him the sign. Not a second later the round was sent, and for the first time ever, I witnessed a DRT Shot. He buckled on impact. As I have stated many times before, my 12 yo is no doubt the best marksman in the family (including myself) and has proven to be on many occasions. The bullet was in the boiler maker splitting the heart in half. He simply has ice running through his veins. No anticipation or flinching when pulling the trigger. He just gets it done. I think the photo speaks for itself. And, as someone has mentioned prior, it indeed is a split main beam and not a brow tine. Not the biggest buck ever and not the management plan I had intended however that will always be trumped by my children’s desire to hunt/shoot an animal. Nothing on the lease is off limits to them as long as it’s legal. Making memories is what it’s all about.
