They were doing great with the single Prostaff. They had to muck it up.

Sad. They could’ve done good things but refused to conform and stuck with and pushed a BDC system that needed replacing.

Most of their rifle scope products amounted to a black eye to the brand as far as I'm concerned.

I was wondering why the FX1000 was so cheap on europtic.

Meh...I have a full Nikon DSLR system, but I'm not a big fan of Nikon rifle scopes. Leupold and Bushnell have them beat on the bottom end and they're not competitive with a number of brands in the middle and they don't even have a presence in the high end optics.

Thank you! See, OP, it's not that hard. (I actually did Google it with no results other than a post similar to OP's on another forum, also with no link.) Thanks for the link, awesome article. What a Richard

I had been hearing pretty positive experiences with the FX1000 Black. Except for the mushy turrets Could someone define "mushy" turrets? I have used a vortex viper gen one a lot and a SS 5-20 HD a big and a Nikon Black FX1000 a bit and looked at many of the other competitive offerings Nightforce and its variants, burris xtr, and a couple others. To be honest the vortex had the most positive click engagement of all of them. None of them are what I would consider mushy or really different in any important way. I think "mushy" turrets is something people say when they just don't like something and have no other reason. The Nikon referenced above has exceeded my expectations and compares well to many of the others noted above also.

Sorry to hear this about Nikon. They have been my favorite for years; good quality at a reasonable price.

Could someone define "mushy" turrets? They lack a positive tactile feel, kinda akin to the old Leupold click and their new friction adjustments

Yeah then im even more convinced that folks just say mushy turrets when they don't like something. The turret feel of the Nikon is almost identical to my ssHD

Surprised to hear this, but I know after reading the comments about the SWFA HD I've upgraded my long list scope to one of those. I had thought I'd like the FX-1000 6-24 over the Athlon Argos BTR I have now.

The Nikon referenced above has exceeded my expectations and compares well to many of the others noted above also. I like Nikon, and have quite a few of their scopes. However, I looked at the FX1000 when it first hit the shelves, and I agree the adjustment felt "mushy" compared to other scopes I looked at side by side. By "mushy", I mean the adjustments did not snap into place. It felt like there was some rotational play in the turret between snaps. Not sure if that paints a picture for you, but that is as close as I can describe. Other scopes I looked at that day did not have that play. May not affect a thing, but the perception is that each click of the turret did not move the exact same. If they get cheap enough on clearance, I may buy one anyway.

The first PST II I looked at was that way to me, which surprised me as the gen1 had very firm clicks.
