We left the hill country after 8 years and moved up to Baylor county this summer. It’s quite the change in landscape but really enjoying it so far. My middle child , also known as my good luck charm, sat with me this weekend and we were fortunate enough to connect on this mature 8. Bucks were running does all weekend and this dude came running into the tinks not 5 min into shooting light.
I can’t get over the size difference in these deer vs the hill country deer. I didn’t weigh him but he took up two coolers. I’m pretty sure I’ve put 2 Hill country deer in one cooler before. Lol..
He wasn’t the biggest on the list, but a good mature buck we agreed to take out. Lots of high fives and smiles!

That’s pretty funny.

I was just telling one of my lease buddies this weekend that there’s quite a few LEOs for that little town. If I drive the main strip in Seymour, which is about a mile, I will see a police, Sheriff, hwy patrol, or game warden at some point.

I had a college roommate from Seymour. He was walking out the door one Friday afternoon and told me he would be back Sunday night. He told me he had to go spend the weekend in jail. He had roped a dumpster and drug it through town. He never got arrested/went to court. Police Chief new it was him and called him and told him he could do it the easy way or the hard way. He chose the easy way.

Yes sir he was.. And my back is still reminding me...
So far I’ve made 32 lbs of ground which includes 3lbs of beef fat, 25 lbs of ground sausage which is 40% pork, bacon wrapped straps and loins, and a few packages of tenderized steaks...and there’s still meat in the cooler. I get a little picky on the trimming but I bet I end up with a little over 70lbs of meat in the freezer
