Don’t know which direction you’d be coming from, but I’ll guess from the North, and there is a loop around Waco. If you are on I35, heck, I’d just stay on it through town. But, the loop you’d want is to exit 35 on the loop itself, going East or SE just as you pass Bellmead and follow it till you rejoin 35 at The Mall. Or, you can exit at Hwy 6, going roughly south, and hit the loop that way. That Hwy 6 approach will hit a few less stoplights and avoid the traffic backup where the loop crosses Hwy 6.

I would not use the loop as it goes west and around town. It’s not a real loop, so avoid it.

Confused yet? And I forget the actual number of the loop, so I’ll look it up.

It’s the 340 Loop.

Lots of construction on the loop around Austin. There’s a sign before you get to the loop exit that gives time estimate using I-35 or the toll road. Sometimes it’s right.

Or you could take 281 to 46 into New Braunfels.
