I've always wondered what people have theirs set too. On my hunting rifles I stick to around 3 lbs. On my target rifles I like to be closer to 2. Under 2 lbs for me is bit too touchy.

Put Ernie The Gunsmith Spring in a Tikka, back it all the way out, that’s the right pull, and the right trigger.

All my rifles are set at 3.5 on the dot. It works for me and I always know how when my rifles will go off, no matter which one. It works for me, although a lot of people think it’s too high.

I want it light enough to need to know the wind speed and direction before disengaging the safety.

For "normal" shooting, 2.5-3lbs feels right and works well for me. The few times that I have tried for accuracy from a bench, shooting way out past my normal range - the trigger weight became became obvious to me. I do see why some folks cringe at my choice - but I am not a precision shooter.

I haven't bothered to mess with it, but my hunting trigger is about 1.75 pounds, and my range trigger feels about 4 ounces.

3.5ish in a 2 stage is about right IMO, but i am fine with a little more or less. Feel matters more to me than weight within reason. I will take a heavier crisper trigger over a lighter creepy trigger if those are my only options

2-3 pounds except on big bore heavy recoil rifles. Then much heavier because I’m hanging on tight.

You say yourself it’s different for different types of rifles, but ask for people to select one option...
If I select less than 1lb that’s only for target rifles. If I choose 2-3 that’s for hunting rifles, then battle rifles that would be shot in stressful situations I like 3+....so poll results won’t really mean much.

Have always hunted with factory Remington triggers until recently. Went on a pronghorn hunt in October and had a long conversation with the guide about triggers. Deer hunters that sit in a box blind and are taught to gently squeeze the trigger until the rifle fires are the norm in many cases. His contention was that when quicker decisions are required, that a trigger with a lighter pull is better. I decided to take his advice. My factory trigger was set at 4 lbs, 12 ounces so I had it turned down as far as it would go which was 2 lbs, 10 ounces and then went back to the range. I like lighter trigger much better and have taken two deer so far with perfect shots. I've now ordered a Trigger Tech Primary that is in the mail and should have it soon.
