TBone's thread has me thinking. I have he regular model in 10X. How much better is the glass in the HD model? The 10X42 HD is more expensive than the 3-9X42 HD so I'm thinking the glass must be pretty good.

Black Friday is coming up. nidea

Fixed is clearer than adjustable.

HD is clearer than non-HD.

What do you think?

I figured that already prior to the post. I was trying to get people's opinion about them. How does the glass compare to other premium scopes?

If it is as good (and I'm pretty sure it is) as the 5-20 HD, the glass is clearer than a Gen 1 Vortex Razor. Three of us came to that conclusion on the same day. The fixed 10X might be even better than the 5-20X, back to the fixed power scope being clearer than a variable power.

I saw one on the samplelist the other day on sale. Significant discount.

Good info Jason. I will check out the sample list. I looked the other day and didn’t see any.

At $799, I'd wait and grab a 5-20 HD for just a few bucks more. Unless there is some reason you don't want the 5-20? Size/weight/etc? The versatility of a zoom is likely to be much more useful long term than a small improvement in IQ without having zoom capability.

If I could get the 10x HD significantly cheaper than the zoom, I do think they're a good option. 10x is a good mag and I'm sure they're extremely clear.

It's a mystery that may never be solved.
