On one of the properties I hunt, I have a huge field of view from a ridge top and can seen well into the neighbor's properties on two sides, both occupied by the same guy. He has hogs. He regularly has hogs. He knows he has hogs. He does not want crossing the fence to go after his hogs for any reason. I respect his wishes, but that does little ease my frustration.

Right now, he has some BIG hogs that I have seen on multiple nights including two nights this week. The property line is 750 yards from my observation point and on Tuesday I hiked out that way and waited for the hogs to venture over to my side of the fence. These never did. On several occasions in the past, patience has paid off and the hogs cross over to my side, but not recently. bang

However, last night was not without success. I came across a lone boar in a low spot on another property and after I finally got him identified as a hog, was able to make a successful stalk on him despite the wind blowing right towards him. The ELD-M 130 gr. bullet Chad at Custom Reloads of Dallas loaded for me worked very well.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

Carpe Shucks....;)

Wonder if calling or scents might coax them a short distance across the fence? I've never messed with either method very much...so I don't know.

It also fails. I have used it many times with very mixed results. When it works, it works great. Sometimes as fast as the hogs come, it will drive them away.

Here is an example done with Pig Popper. This was actually done on the property where I shot the hog in the OP.
