Two hunters, six dogs about 11 hours of hunting north of Sweetwater. No birds seen or heard, very disappointing.

Dang. Think the end is near?

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Talked to a friend today who said they had 21 coveys last Saturday and 30 Sunday in Jim Hogg County

That sounds like a dream

I found 8 coveys in 2.5 hours last Saturday near Carrizo Springs. There seems to be more birds than I anticipated.

We moved 6 coveys on Saturday and 5 coveys on Sunday in western Oklahoma. Scenting conditions were tough and the dogs struggled to find birds. I was, frankly, disappointed in the number of birds we found but I've decided to be glad we have huntable numbers. Things could definitely be worse.

Hunted 4 days in Kansas all public land. Started in the North East (to avoid all the crowds) worked West. Saw 2 coveys and one of those was on private land in a ditch. Did find some pheasants.

That doesn’t sound too good at all. I zeroed yesterday in Throckmorton county. Two hours walking the “Good” spots with good dogs and a pup, 30 minutes driving around roading a Brittany in front of the truck. Didn’t see a sign of a Quail, the pasture is so thick once you get off the hills I don’t think a quail could run in it. I’m going west this weekend to chase blues, or I may have to crappie fish or deer hunt. I haven’t decided yet, I’m off Friday. Something fun is bound to happen.

Dang - was torn between trying to quail hunt in the Rolling Plains or fishing a bass tourney this weekend, feeling better about deciding to be on Ray Roberts Saturday now.

Been focused on deer hunting at my place in Dickens county. However quail are still down from high 3 years ago. I have spotted 2 coveys on my 160 acres. One has 12 birds and the other about 8 or 10. I had about 4 coveys of 10 to 12 three years ago. Will do some light hunting after deer season. And pray for a mild winter and wet springtime

We saw a covey n east of Italy on Sunday. I didn't think there were any birds that far east.

I think I made the right choice.

Put 5 dogs ahead of the mule for 7 hours Wednesday in Dickens County in a place that looked good. Did not move a bird. Did not even bump a cottontail. If I ever tried that hard and found nothing I can't remember it.

Any reports from Cottle Co?

You need to get that new shotgun out and run some shells through it!

We could have limited out but only kept 11”+ fish.

Under 11 is not really worth filleting. Good job.
