Like a dummy, I got to the blind this morning and realized I left my Buddy heater on pilot last night. New tank installed just before. So how long do you think I have left running in low? Almost 12 hrs on pilot.

Thanks, I hope so. 22 degrees right now. Uninsulated blind. At least the wind is gone...for now. Planning on staying a while.

The pilot uses very little propane. If I remember correctly, my buddy heater would go about 6-7 hours on a full green tank. I'll bet that you get at least 4-5 hours out of what is left. More importantly, are you seeing anything?

I think you'll be fine. We usually get about 6 hour's run time, with the heater on low. Now go shoot Bambi's daddy in the butt and post pic's. Good luck!

Run it on low for sure. It will last the duration. Hi might get your warmer but you’ll be gambling on time.

Hi would run me out of here! I wish there was a “low” low setting. Bottom half of the tank is covered in ice.

Sweat or ice indicates level of liquid propane.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Think you can hang it outside?

The big daddy. Hang it overnight. That's what we did in the old days. I took my to the processor with the skin on until I started doing my own. Up in Arkansas we called it hog killing weather.

Ok, got it now. Probably not unless I shoot it at dusk and it’s cold like now. Processor is 30 min away.

He wants you to hang your big daddy out side after your shoot it.
I guess that’s what they do in Arkansas. confused2

Terrible timing. Hope it lasts through your hunt, or you see something nice early and take it. Good luck.

Propane just ran out. Not bad...maybe a half hour yesterday, 4 hours this morning, and 12 hours on pilot. It’s warmed up to a balmy 25 here. Was planning on leaving around 10 anyways and will sit in the other blind around 2. I’m here till tomorrow night.

Yea, I usually do too, just clean forgot to replenish this blind. I have 3-4 extras at my other blind.

A friend of mine was giving me a hard time after I told him I had my Buddy Heater on in the blind this weekend. It was about 30 degrees or so, and I could have sat pretty comfortably without it, but as I told him, "no sense in being chilly if I don't need to be."

On another thread someone was asking if deer would smell the propane. On Saturday morning I had a 4 pt walk within 10' of my blind, pass alongside, and circle back on the other side a few minutes later. The heater had been on for maybe an hour at this point and it never even looked up.

And like several have said, I keep a spare bottle of propane in each of my blinds.

Get an adapter hose to run your heater off of a regular sized bbq propane tank. You can leave the tank outside and run the hose to the heater inside.

Glad you got the 4 hrs out of it. My brother and I were just talking yesterday about how different and nice it was nowadays to be able to hunt out of an enclosed blind with windows that could be opened as needed and a nice propane heater going.

Compared to when we were kids 50 years ago sitting in a homeade tower blind inside a 55 gallon barrel with the top and 1/3 of the front cut out. Or crawled up in a tree sitting on a board in 20 degrees and some wind. Neither of us think we’re up for those old school ways anymore when it’s that kind of cold.
