So its gonna be nice and cold tomorrow.. but the wind is showing 15-25mph.. you think the deer will still be moving since it will be cold and need to eat? I can go hunting tomorrow but just trying to think if there is a better day to wait and go..

Mid day will be best after the wind starts to settle - not sure where you are at though.

I love hunting with a north wind! Find the food source that has a southern facing slope or windblock. Or hunt down in an east-west facing draw. The deer will use those corridors to help protect themselves from the cold wind. Also, for spot and stalk, the wind will help cover some of your movement and sound.

Winds will settle tomorrow afternoon and deer will be moving after laying up for a day. The deer were really moving at noon before the rain and sleet started falling. Now everything is down.
Should see some rutting this week as the mature bucks were cruising and looking for does over the weekend. Several mature bucks where killed on the road in the last couple of days, another sign that business is picking up.
Adios,
Gary

Can’t kill one if you’re not there. I’m in the blind right now. Yea, it’s severely cold and windy but tha what box blinds and buddy heaters are for!

To hijack this thread, since I came to ask the same thing. I can only hunt one morning this week, and it's either tomorrow or Wednesday (either hunt has to be in the morning). My comfort aside here, which day to you hunt? Rain and near freezing temps all night, tomorrow am 30-40 degrees with wind between 20-14 mph but sunshine all day. Wednesday freezing all night, but morning temps between 27-40, very little wind and sunshine.
If overnight rain and that big of a temp drop will keep them bedded most of tomorrow am, I'll go Wednesday. BUT, if the thought is the tough night will get them up earlier I've got no problem being cold and wet if it gives me a better crack at a deer & hunt the cold and wind tomorrow morning.

Wind here has slowed to a more normal “west Texas” type with some gusts. Deer are starting to move. Saw 2 doe cross the lane about 400 yards away. I have high hopes for tomorrow morning.

Just got in and they were chasing everywhere, wind did not have any affect them at all tonight. The rut is much stronger than the wind. Get after them!!

I'd be waiting for Weds. for sure. More time for things to return to normal (except the temperature). Should be a nicer day. Once the sun gets up and begins to warm things a little you should see good movement. STAY on stand as late in the morning as your schedule allows.

Cold, still mornings can sometimes suppress deer movement...as they tend to want to wait for the sun to rise and warm things a little AND for any kind of reliable wind (for the day) to present itself. You might not see anything 'early' but I'd wager you'll see good movement by 8:30-9:00 a.m. and on through the morning.

That's the day I'll be out there.

Well, I read this and I decided to sleep in this morning. My dad still went out and he said so far he hasn't seen anything move. So, thanks for saving me a cold morning all! lol.

I was going to say this too haha. Enjoyed my toasty bed this morning, but tomorrow should be colder so I'll earn it then. At least it wont be windy.

In Dickens county Last night winds were 30 plus gusts and temp 29 wind chill in teens minimal movement saw a couple does and a spike This am 15 degrees with 10 mph wind again slow movement only a couple does. Its my experience that high winds really reduce activity. I expect lots of activity later today as things calm down
