Anyone else scouting Balcones Canyonlands this weekend? One of the handful of opportunities to scout the units before the hunts.

I'm heading out Saturday with my son.

Good luck to you! Let us know how it goes!

Got back from my scouting trip today. Drove to Unit 8 and hiked around for a while then drove the main road.

It is thick back there with tons of rocks and cedar, definitely roll you ankle country. Didn't see anything, didn't spook anything but there were plenty of game trails. Some people are going to have problems finding a decent shooting lane depending where you are assigned bc the cedar.

There are some pretty steep inclines and if it's muddy out there I'm not sure how any vehicle except ATVs could get up the first hill.

I got a crappy spot in unit 7. I've been there before so I already kind of know it.

Spend some time looking at google earth's satellite view. Sometimes you can find stuff that you can't see from the road.
