How do the Sheepshead taste, in nearly 20 years of fishing around Corpus growing up, we never cooked any up, all catch and release and caught some 6-9 lbrs. along the way...

How do the Sheepshead taste, in nearly 20 years of fishing around Corpus growing up, we never cooked any up, all catch and release and caught some 6-9 lbrs. along the way... I think they taste great. I used to go to Port Aransas with my dad every February where we anchored off the end of one of the jetties to catch them during the spawn. They are a pia to fillet though and I always did all the fish cleaning for family and friends back then. But this trip we paid a couple guys at the dock to clean them, so that was nice not to have to mess with them.

You were in a good place. Right behind your boat in the photo of the big jack is Wild Bill in his deep hulled cat. Yep, saw him and just about every other guide in the area every day. Lots of networking going on.

Me and my fiance discovered our love for the salt over the past year. Sheephead is one of our favorites on the table, as well as gaftop and bonnet head shark. most people throw back what we love to eat lol, Redfish have never took our bait or flounder but we always come home with some anyway thanks to friendly people!
