North East Texas rut is in full swing. Have seen several bucks chasing does thru my back yard. I drove from Longview to Canton (Smith and Van Zandt counties) and back on I-20 Saturday morning and saw 2 dead deer on the road. Drove back at 2:00 PM Sunday and there were 4 more, 3 of which were bucks.

Fair request and I think it adds a useful element to a set of pictures.

The buck I posted up of my son yesterday was shot in Llano County with a weatherby vanguard chambered in 7mm-08.

Hornady 120 SST custom lite round did him in at 80 yards

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Not to start a needless debate, but noting the general setup would be helpful as well. For example, the buck was taken when it showed up following a doe into a feeder. Or, he was taken when the hunter saw him crossing a pasture alone. I'm one of those who always enjoy learning new tactics that have proven successful for others.
