I had my knee scoped several years ago. After, it was bone on bone. The surgeon told me glucosamine with chondroitin is the only thing in the world that makes cartridge grow. I took it for a year and can even run again if I need to.

What problem are you having? I had my knee scoped about 14 years ago, it was giving out on me. Both of my knees now are very loud and have pain, but they aren't giving out so Im not going to do anything yet. For me, that knee scope was a more painful recovery than any of my three back surgeries.

I can relate to the “phat” predicament! 60 next month and being phat doesn’t go well together. Killed one knee three weeks ago stepping backwards off a ladder. Finally went to the DR after the pain went into my calf. Sent me for x-rays. Will see him again Thursday. He did say to take Meloxicam that I still had from a previous injury.

I take Meloxicam every morning just to keep all my PH'ed up stuff pain to a dull roar. The left knee was scoped many years ago for meniscus, it hurts all around, I'm afraid I KNEED a new one, Prtho Doc will probably send me for MRI's.

That meniscus works as a shock absorber between your tibial plateau and the femoral condyle. If it was torn when you had it scoped they probably just removed the torn part or might have tried to repair it. I used to sell medical devices in sports medicine and have probably been in 50 or more of those cases. I can tell you that repairing them usually doesn’t work to well, especially on older patients. There’s not much blood flow in the meniscus, and therefore it doesn’t want to grow back together. Most times the surgeon will just cut the bad part out and then try and smooth out what’s left as best as they can. Over time this can lead to a lot of pain and damage to what’s left. Talk with your doc and see what they suggest, but know that a total knee is a serious surgery. I’ve sat in on a hand full of those cases and they are pretty major. Hopefully they can get in there and just clean things up again to give you some relief. Sorry man!

Once the wife got over her rough rehab experience, she wondered why she went so many years limping in pain. I two knee surgeries heal the same, even on the same person. Go to a good hospital and use a doc that does 2 or three an hour. That's my .02 cents.

I had 5 knee surgeries before getting both replaced a couple of Summers ago. It all started in 1989 after too many years behind the plate. Chondromalatia, meniscus, etc problems repeatedly for almost 30 years. Once it gets to bone on bone, your options are limited and you only treat the pain, not the cause. Can't tell you how many cortisone, synvisc, etc injections I had over the years. When they quit working, time for more drastic measures. The TKR's changed my life for the better. Good luck Buzz.

I had knee surgery in December 2017. Chondroplastys of both knees and a torn meniscus and all that. Knee surgery was fine. Knees have never been better. It's the blood clot and all the side effects from the medication that are trying to kill me. Been almost 2 years and I am still having some issues that the doctors haven't been able to fix yet.

I am 31 and had my first ever surgery in August to replace my ACL, knee surgery sucks big time but it is worth it to me to not have my knee give out.

MRI showed a torn meniscus. Primary doc says it’s bad news. I have an appointment with the Ortho doc on Thursday.

Good news today. Went to Ortho Dr and yes I have a torn miniscus but my main problem is arthritis and I’m almost bone on bone.Gave me a cortisone shot and said come back in 4 months. I will have to replace the knee, but not now.

That was my exact prognosis. Got the shot and a knee brace. The brace works, after a year I only wear it when doing a lot of walking.

Cortisone will speed up the decline of your cartilage, Some of the insurance companies are now approving stem. I would research that route way before the shots. You can always get the shot until you need them to often and can’t get them anymore....

I've had surgeries on both knees...they are shot. Doc already told me its just a matter of time before I have to replace both of them...

I'm trying to weigh the time of knowing that replacements typically have to be replaced in 10 or so years vs. living with daily pain now. I'll be 55 this summer so the thought of having to do it again at 65 and 75 has me holding off as long as possible....

I fell off a ladder 4 years ago and messed up both of them. Had surgery on the worst one but it didn’t work. Weighing whether I want to do it again.
