Brought the youngest boy up to Llano last night. Friend of mine has a small property just outside of town.

Deer moved late, saw 7 bucks out cruising for does, one shooter at over 300 yards but he was walking the other way. None of the deer had any interest in corn whatsoever.

Went to another property in San Saba county this morning, tons of deer activity and over there and they were much more interested in corn. Group of hogs came in and my buddy made a perfect heart shot and the pig made a 69 yard dash into some brush and expired. We kept on hunting and saw close to 25 deer, several bucks but no shooters. Had a herd of axis come in but they wouldn’t offer us a good shot.

At the blind we hunted yesterday evening the landowner sat and saw 11 bucks, including one real nice 10 point so we are back on the granite mountain looking for a mature llano county buck.

It’s 70 degrees and clear.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Good grief, that's a lot of animals. Sounds like a blast. I've been seeing the same four bucks for a week now. Not a single doe. Red wasps are swarming around my stand right now. Gotta' run.

Our view this evening.

I’ve not hunted Llano county but one time. This is interesting terrain

That's much trouble too right now. Same bucks, no new ones just yet. I could hunt another area of our property....but I have one really comfortable box stand that I like to hang out in. (Old Man's kind of hunting). wink

I'm about 2 minutes from my beer cooler (refrigerator). Sweet having a stand behind the crib, especially the older I get.

Hear ya.

Even better to just shoot them from the house.

My Daughter shot a buck from Her bedroom window when she was about 14 yrs. old. Early one Saturday morning.

The rifle blast startled my Wife who was sound asleep at the time...and she put a stop to anymore of that. I do shoot hogs from the back porch on occasion.

But back to the subject at hand: Congratulations to the young man...and good shooting!
