I've been hunting my whole life, I've already taken a nice little buck this year but our property is so far away and #905 is about 25 from me. I've never hinted public before. I've already bought the permit and plan to go scout on Wed morning and hunt Thur morning. I have zero clue where's a decent general area (I don't expect secrets) I guess I'll just sit on a bucket for now. Also where to park etc....any advice is appreciated.

West side of I-45 has better access and seems to produce more deer. You can park anywhere along any road in the Sam. Camping is only in designated areas for deer season. Find hardwood bottoms and you will find deer

Good info. Good luck out there Nick!

I just started hinting public land also. Iv hunted on family land and leases for ever. I went up to caddo grasslands last Friday and just spent a day scouting, found a bedding area and sat on it for a few hours. Unfortunately I have no info for you on Sam Houston but I would suggest downloading ONX hunting app. I was able to map out my route and the bedding area I found so I can find it easily next time. Good luck and happy hunting my man
