I wish I knew more about the shipping industry. How can you have Amazon prime with a legit 2 day delivery, and then the rest of everything?
Almost everything that I get shipped to me is through UPS, and I don't understand why some things take 5 days and some take 2 when I can shop prime. Why can't everything just be 2 days?

If you are big enough shipper like Amazon, UPS as an independent business can make it's own rules, so your stuff could go first. Same as they get big discounts that small shippers do not get.

Seems like, considering the volume that they handle, they do pretty good.
Mail a letter to most anywhere for less than $.50.

Sounds good to say that we can mail a letter to anywhere for less than 50 cents, and it’s true. But will it get there and when?

Kinda like going out in your front yard in Dallas and screaming insults to an ex-girlfriend in St Louis. The message was sent...

Government agency and efficiency do NOT go in the same sentence. USPS is a joke, lose billions of $$ every year.

I wouldn’t say Amazons stuff takes priority over any other customer. Yes they are the biggest customer but once it’s in the system it’s all the same and sorted and shipped according to service level. No one is on the sort saying “this amazon next day air has to go before mom and pops company’s next day air.”

not quite a year ago, i'd ordered some things from a trapping supply
company. my e-mail showed the date and time received, where it was
daily, and expected delivery time and date.
it made it all the way here to the local postal facility for this zip code and disappeared
into thin air. i finally had to have the postal inspectors open an investigation
into where the eff my package went to. they called me back and said there
were photos ( i guess everything they receive is photographed on some
kind of conveyor belt doo-dad ) of my package being received and it should
have been delivered. i told them well i already know all that, where the bleep
is it ?
all that went on for a couple of days and the company graciously re-shipped
the whole works on their dime.
the blankety-blankin' post office inspectors said they were closing the case since
i got what i ordered and wasn't that the whole purpose ?
they just blew it off and forgot that one of their employees was a thief and a
slacker.
that's what happens when you hire with quotas instead of hiring on merit as should be
for every job.

i'll also add that if there was a grading scale for delivery personel gabbing
on the cell phone ear piece doo-dad while pretending to do their job,
the effing United States Postal Service would be right on the very top
way way above anyone else

I've always had good luck with USPS, but I'm learning your individual carrier has a lot to do with many problems or lack thereof. We've had the same carrier for a long time and she's always been great. We apparently have a different one now and mail is constantly being delivered to the wrong houses (they are all clearly marked). It has become a regular feature on our neighborhood facebook group.
Several years ago I ordered a package that got delivered to the wrong house. I called the post office and she had the GPS coordinates of the actual delivery site and directed me to it while I was on the phone driving the neighborhood. She actually pulled an aerial image up and was able to describe the house and property to me, and there it was on the porch. The house was vacant with a realtor lock on the door and was clearly marked with an address which was not mine. We had a temporary carrier that day because our regular carrier was off.

We don't have a regular carrier, but thank goodness we did know the girl, through her dad (also a retired carrier) at church, that was on our route when someone tried to get our mail stopped. Although you wouldn't say she's the sharpest knife in the drawer, God bless her, she knew us and knew we were having trouble. Thanks to her, that low-life scum aspiring thief hit a dead end. Now, when I walked into the Post Office to inquire as to why I hadn't received mail in a few days and was wondering if my mail had been forwarded or stopped, the first postal employee I met said "nobody can do that." bang
