Looks like I'll be spending some time there. Where to stay, what to eat? Any must dos or must sees.

Brooklyn Heights Pizza off Parmer is pretty good, there’s a Pluckers and I like Lupe Tortilla for Mexican food. Haven’t tried it yet but have heard good things about Blue Corn Harvest. Can’t think of any must sees or dos there but Eagle Peak gun range is the next town over in Leander if your looking for something to do.

Thanks Lee. I was looking at Lupe Tortilla. I'll be working at the VA an it looks like it is pretty much across the street. I'm always up for Mexican food

solo trip or taking someone with you???

a short drive to the west is the Oasis for the atmosphere and view at sunset high overlooking Lake Travis, not so much known for the food, but cool date night venue.

any price point or types of food you might be looking for?

I'll be working so no dates. I've already seen at least 3 Tex-Mex places within spitting distance from the hotel so that should be covered. Would really like to find a good old fashioned burger place. I'm not much on burgers with exotic stuff stacked on them. Good cajun seafood, bbq, steak. I don't mind spending a little bit on a good meal.

I’m not sure about old fashion burgers in that area, but they did just build a Hopdoddy over there and I think it’s open now, it kinda has the exotic stuff on them but they also have regular burgers, they grind the meat in-house and have really good buns!! Just checked yelp and they don’t have reviews yet, you could look at the Round Rock location for reviews.

MightyFine is the best burger in town. Same owners as the local Rudys so it's a very clean, well run establishment.

For hole in the wall local Mexican, go to Jardin Corona. Can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Lupe Tortilla is goood but overpriced.

I called on a customer there for many years and my favorite place to eat is Surf and Turf! Always thought it was a diamond in the rough. Food always good and very reasonable prices.

best burger in the area is Bill's Burgers, Wings and things in Burnet and Marble Falls but those are 30+/- minute drive from CP OR Andice General Store in Andice likely 20+ minutes north up US183.

We don't go to CP for dinner much, so not much I can recommend specifically there ... Dahlia's in Liberty Hill (20 minutes) has really good entrees, CFS, meat loaf, ribeye and chopped steaks all very good.

Thanks for all of the recommendations guys. There is definitely no shortage of places to eat in the area. I tried Lupe Tortilla last night and the food was fine but definitely over priced for what it was. The waitress was very nice and helpful.
I'll be back and forth between now and the end of November so I'll try the other suggestions.

BTW there was mention on another thread somewhere about Academy not having a good selection of hunting/fishing items. The Academy there was very nice and seemed well stocked.

Dink, I just read this post. Not sure if you are still there but if so you are close to Whitestone Brewery. They just released this years batch of melted snowman. If you are into beers you should give it a try.
