Gee Whiz. Mailed a check to our power co-op. They sent a late payment notice a week or two later, so we drove over and paid a second time. Today we found out that the first check finally got there, but took 22 days to get to the co-op, which is about 22 miles away. A mile a day...

And who do we gripe to? There’s no complaint department or customer service, as far as I know.

Postal Service and efficiency should never be used together!

I have never figured out their business model.

They should.

1. Make price of junk mail, not worth it to companies.

2. Focus on “real” mail and bills, etc.

3. Invest more in shipping aspects, like Fedex, UPS.

We had a similar experience one time and when I complained to the local postmaster his exact words were "well that happens sometimes".

A mile a day sounds like they are getting faster.

It's not a business model, it's a service. I would imagine for the amount of mail handled on a daily basis problems are relatively a small %.

In 48 years of years of life, I've only mailed 1 letter through USPS that never reached it's destination. I mail stuff several times a week.

My experience with them doesn’t line up with that, at all. It’s to the point that I use them as a last resort. Even then, I just hope it gets there.

I don’t mail much, and I’ve lost track of their failures. In the last five years, I’d bet that less than half of the items I’ve mailed have reached their destination in less than two weeks, and many have never even arrived.

It may be a regional thing, but my experience with them is awful.

When I was selling calls, I got checks through the mail, and sent the calls through the mail. Ove the years and thousands of calls and thousands of checks, I remember one check that did not show up on a timely manner. When I contacted teh buyer, he admitted he had forgotten to mail it. I had one call that I remember took about 2 weeks, I messed up the zip code, it went to Wyoming instead of Florida.

I could have shipped UPS or Fedex, but the expense to the buyer would have been double or more That double fee, also explains the profit factor of UPS and Fedex.

I seem to get about 50% of packages mailed to me USPS. And I live one block from the post office.

Auto pay for me.

I have had to call the Van Alstyne Post Office over twenty times this year because my goofy mail carrier can't deliver the mail correctly or at all.

We have on our bills. I was talking about packages and other mail items.

Only check I ever put in the mail is for my property tax each year. Trying to get it to clear my bank about the same time my income tax gets deposited. I generally come out a little ahead.

No problems with USPS here. In Frisco Lakes we have "contracted" mail carriers. Gotten to know them by name, they try really hard to get it right.

What I hate is having to actually go to a post office, Those "people" are idiots and hate everyone.

As most of you know I mail allot of "stuff" so far I haven't gotten burned

I only pay one bill online. Just afraid when I croak there will not be an easy paper trail for my daughter to follow to get all my debts settled.

Several years ago I dropped two birthday cards off at the main post office in Richardson. One was going to Atlanta, GA and the other about two miles across town in Richardson.

The Atlanta one got there three days before the local one.

They lost a check for a vehicle payment for me 8 years ago. That check has not been cashed or returned.

Other than that I have had pretty good luck with them.

I had a package from a parts house in Austin get shipped to northern Illinois,and then to Conroe.
Usually when I ordered from them it goes from austin, Houston Conroe -me.

Ha. I was thinking about starting this thread. I mailed a check to Crockett Monday and the gentleman had not received it last night. 80 miles. What do you expect, it’s a government project.
