I'm 70 years old and have hunted since I was 5 when I was taken out of school to go on a mule deer hunt in New Mexico. I have hunted and fished my entire life. I've have been checked four times by a GW. Once each on Lake Brownwood, Lake Richland Chambers, Lake Murvaul, and Lake Texoma while unloading the boat on the ramp. He water to see my throw cushins and fire exsteniger. I have never been check while hunting. How about ya'll?

Once while hunting in west Texas, two or 3 times by game wardens while on the water.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Checked by the Coast Guard too a few times.

Once, when somebody who wasn't the landowner called the GW to report that I was hunting on a property where I didn't have permission, only I did have landowner permission.

Atleast 20, I got checked three times in one day coming out if Baffin I got jumped by a Federal Warden in Port Aransas, idiot. We called him Jumper. He jumped on me when I was scrubbing the boat at the dock, fish were being cleaned. He loved calling people a liar, he called me one that day. It got sorted out afterwards. Man had some issues....will leave it at that. I have MUCH respect for Texas Game Wardens, can’t say the same about the Feds.

Once when I was a senior in high school. My buddy and I walked up on a tank dam and on the other side were two coyotes. We opened up on the coyotes (I had my trusty Colt AR and he had a Mini-14). Dead coyotes. What we didn't notice was the tank had a load of ducks in it which of course flew like crazy. As soon as we finished shooting a voice behind us said, "let's see if y'all hit anything." We had no idea the GW was there. We showed him the yotes but he was just making sure no ducks had been shot. Those guys are ghosts in the woods.

Hunting ive only been checked a handful of times maybe 5 including texas public land hunts. If you throw fishing in there then who knows I lost count. The lakes in/around san Antonio I fished most of my life are pretty heavily monitored. My brother and I fished 3 days a week during the summer sin highschool and college, so its been a lot. Never been given a fish and game related ticket or warning. Did get one ticket for an expired boat registration.

Oh I've gotten a couple tickets.
No hunters Ed card on me Shooting a boot lip during teal season Possession of lead duck hunting Removing the wings from a duck
Think those are in order and that last one was probably 04ish. I'm a slow study. Also of note my buddy used to date the county game wardens daughter. Much to ole green jeans dismay I might add. You might say we lived under a microscope in HS. A wiser man would have found new hunting buddies.

Hunting....exactly once. When were teens...still in High School, shooting Jack Rabbits at night on a private ranch belonging to my buddies Dad. No big deal. 'Grover Simpson' (of some fame in Williamson and Travis Counties) checked us out...and bid us good luck.
Fishing, twice. No issues.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

Several times on the lake in my younger days, but not for fishing, just confirming sobriety, # of life jackets in boat, etc. No tickets.
Once while actually hunting - was on a day hunt for dove and GW drove the perimeter and checked every hunters license and guns. Also had my local guy stop by my place on opening day a couple of years ago. I had arrived late and didn't hunt, so nothing to check. We exchanged cards and chatted over coffee.

I have been checked four times.
Once on public land hunting ducks in Denton
Once at a boat ramp on Ray Roberts
Once in a dove field on a guided hunt. Probably 40 hunters, several got tickets.
Once while deer hunting South Texas, I was hunting land with a known land ownership dispute.
All were pleasant experiences, respectful and didn't have issues. 0 tickets.
I am only 31

Yelp, Probably the same one that pinched a buddy for co-mingling and procession limit(at his home) down there. State guys are always cool down there. 99.0% it’s just a safety boarding more so then anything.

I've been checked three times:
Once on Texoma. We didn't know back then that you had to have an Oklahoma license to fish the Oklahoma side. My dad got a ticket. I got off because the warden thought I was a youth. I wasn't but he never asked me directly. Once this dove season when the warden was checking all hunters in the field.
The first one was on Black Creek Lake waaay back in the early 70s. There were two boats on the lake. We always hunted away from the camping area but the other boat always set up across the lake and shot towards the camping area. When we came in there was a crowd of campers and a Warden at the dock. We had a limit of ringnecks (they were 10 point ducks at that time). Warden said he thought they were redheads (100 point duck). I showed him a picture and we were ok. Shortly after that they closed Black Creek to hunting due to camper complaints. Seems the lead from the boat across the lake was falling on the campers. News came out to report on the deal but we were gone by then. Just as well. The lake seem to only have ringnecks and a few teal. I did shoot my first and only canvasback there and one mallard that fell in the reeds and could not be recovered.

A few times both fishing and hunting. It tends to go pretty quick and smooth when you hand them the Lifetime Combo gold card.

I was checked once during every season at my old lease, including one year when the officer asked to see my license while I was in work clothes and working on a tractor. I guess the reason he asked to see my license was because I told him I had been hunting sometime earlier. But honestly, did he really think I would have admitted to hunting earlier if I didn't have a license?
I did get a bit of a chuckle when he checked me last season. Having seen him several times on the Lone Star Law television series, I asked him if he gets asked for autographs. He replied back, "No, I ask people for their autograph." I told him I was sure he got a lot of mileage out of that one.
"Some people will never like you because your spirit irritates their demons."

Counting shooting, hunting and fishing it is north of 30 times. Of course you have to consider I live & hunt in North East Texas. Have also been checked in Louisiana several times when I was hunting with my dog running friends. Either lucky or blessed as I have never received a ticket and only 1 warning.

Zero in the 30+ years I've been hunting/fishing. I've run into them numerous times while fishing, driving, gas station, etc.....I guess they had better things to do on those days. Only ran into them one time when hunting and that was on a dove hunt where I got caught in a thunderstorm. I was trying to collect all my crap (mojo's, chair, shooting bag, etc.) and it really started to come down. At this point I'm head down trying to run out of the field since lightning was striking pretty close. I get to the road where my truck is and look up and the game warden is sitting in his truck laughing at me dropping all my stuff on the run back. He just drove off after that, closest I've come to being checked.

Hunted for 25 years. Got checked twice in the first 5 years of hunting - once on public land and the second on a large deer lease during opening weekend (20 hunters). Never received a ticket. Haven't been checked in 20 years. I don't fish much though and the leases I've hunted in the past 20 years are somewhat remote with few lease members.
The last lease I was on was leased directly from the landowner. He HATED game wardens and told us if the game wardens ever showed up - to say as little as possible. Used to say that you could "talk yourself into a ticket" when speaking with game wardens. Seeing your comment Texas Dan reminded me of this and gave me a chuckle.
