headed to camp 11/23-12/1 and thought it would coincide really well with the peak of the rut up there. It been so cool, combined with this recent rain, Im a bit concerned it may kick them off a week or so early this year. Anyone have any thoughts on when things will really get going around Albany?

---> TPWD rut in whitetail deer Shackelford / Albany is considered Cross Timbers region.

12th-25th is major rut time in this area. Been hunting in Stephens county 5 miles east of the Shack county line for the past 22 years and it's always...always been the same.

12th-25th is major rut time in this area. Been hunting in Stephens county 5 miles east of the Shack county line for the past 22 years and it's always...always been the same. Also hunt in Stephens County and agree that rut is normally closer to Thanksgiving than opener....but we had best buck chasing weekend in last 10 years. I saw 8 different 8 point or better chasing does this opening weekend. At least 4 of those deer were legal (AR county). 5 hunters killed 4 very nice deer....including the largest ever taken by on 40+ years of hunting the property.
