Looking for suggestions on cold weather boots. I'm headed to Alberta to whitetail hunt next month and need a warm boot. Mainly sitting in a ground blind on this hunt. Temps there historically are highs mid to upper 20's and lows mid to lower teens.

That really isn't that cold. I've hunted those temps in Tony Lamas and Wolverines. Just need good socks.

I have hunted worse weather while wearing regular work boots and silk or poly sock liners with good wool socks.

I just hunted Northwest Colorado with the older version of these. VERY comfortable. Not quite as warm as I would have liked (200g insulation) but they were completely dry. I just layered up the wool socks and I was good to go. I'd definitely buy them again

I just bought a pair of Oboz Bridger boots and they are awesome. 400g insulation and waterproof. Working for me in the negatives with a foot of snow.

get you a pair of polypropelene liners at a ski shop and a good pair of wool socks to go over and wear whatever boots you want.... Feet get cold from moisture staying on your feet...

Another option is Arctic Shield boot covers. Remove your boots, put these on, and throw in a hand warmer.

Circulation in ones feet is different for everyone. Some have warm feet in 20 degree temps and 200g thinsulate insulated boots. Others may freeze in 20 degree temps w/ 1,000g thinsulate. It’s not a “one size fits all” category with cold feet and boot warmth. Everyone is different. Yes the correct sock combo will help, but it’s way beyond that. What works for one will not work for the other. It’s trial and error. I fall into that category of always having cold feet. I have to wear the Kenetrek Mountain Extreme w/ 1,000g Thinsulate for stand hunting in 20-30 degree temps. Just the way my feet are built.

My cold weather boots for single digits and below are Irish Setter Snow Claw XT a 2000 gram Thinsulate boot. Don't prepare for averages be prepared for the extremes!

I would definitely get the Irish Setters, I had the 1600 gram Thinsulate models and never had cold feet. I wore them frequently sitting in Below Zero weather with a good pair of Merlino wool socks and thin sock liners.

I am heading to Alberta the week of Thanksgiving. Temps can be from -30 to +30. At the recommendation of my outfitter, I bought Cabelas Saskatchewan Pack boots. Bought them 2-3 sizes too large to allow room for air circulation and hand warmers. These boots are not meant for walking. Meant to keep your feet warm while sitting all day.

I was about to post this subject myself.

I am DONE with freezing my toes off in my muck boots out there. Ive tried all the big thick socks and wool socks, even bought a $50 pair of battery powered socks and still get cold. I want some good insulated winter boots. I want my feet to stay warm. I can wear my muck boots when its warmed out so not worried about my feet getting hot.

One thing is Id HIGHLY prefer slip on style boots and not lace up boots if possible. They also need to be waterproof as I cross a small stream on the way to the stand I hunt the most.

Any suggestions?

OK, laugh if you want, but I am one of the feet freezing crowd ! Anything with rubber on the outside, regardless of the insulation value would make my feet freeze ! An older gentleman told me, and I kid you not, "Get yourself a good pair of slip on, well insulated house shoes" ! They can be wadded up and take up very little room in your pack and with a size larger, they will allow for foot warmers to be inserted without any discomfort. Once your situated in your stand for an all day hunt, slip off your boots and slip these on ! No circulation loss or binding and your feet of course can breath! If you kill a buck, slip your boots back on; no problem! Hope this helps and yes, I have done it with much success! Good luck !

Trying Irish Setter for the first time, price point was good.

Take a wool blanket and wrap your feet in it, make sure to put something under your feet, not on the frozen ground and you'll be warmer too.
