Looking into getting a Cargo Trailer to haul mule & hunting equipment. Who has the best deals on a well built trailer? I want a 7x14 tandem axle with ramp and side door. Just from online research I know to make sure it is 16" OC construction but that's about all I know to look for. Any other tips before I drop 4-5 grand on a trailer?

There are a ton of variable as you know, we have 8 cargos now and have go thru a few.

Plenty of budget CT out there that will last a couple-few years if used much. Better build cost but last far longer and carries better resale.

I'd consider torsion axles (smoother pull and load ride), .40 screw-less exterior (you'd be surprised how fast screws work out) Vapor barrier and barrier wherever AL and steel join. Tubular supports in frame, floor, walls and roof are far better than the "hat" style ans "z" runners most budget build use. Under body coating, which is almost impossible to find on average. Always run tandem

We will drive 200-500 miles to get a good trailer and generally better built than higher priced local, just have to pay ttl at your county appraiser.

Last few we have got and probably the best we have used so far are H&H trailers, couple of dealers in Oklahoma and they will change anything you want, like more supports (my trailer has 12" oc wall and roof support"
Here is a good quality trailer, they make many versions and they are very well built.

I had a WW brand 6x12 all steel tandem axle cargo trailer that was a beast. It was a trade I made and way more trailer than I needed. I bet it would have hauled anything you could fit through the door. It was a great trailer, but I sold it to get a lighter aluminum trailer. If you have the truck for it, and want to pull it, something like that WW is the ticket. My 1/2 ton Z71 felt like I was towing a loaded trailer when it was empty.

I found a like new 6x12 Wells Cargo Road Force single axle trailer that will do what I need and run 80 if I want and not know it is back there. In my research about the best info I found, to go along with everything Western mentions above, is a rounded top vs. a flat top. I read that the flat ones will sooner or later leak.

The guy I got it from ordered it with all the bells and whistles, including a crank up sunroof. I would not get one of those if you order a trailer. It isn't needed and will break from hail. I improvised a permanent aluminum cover over it.

You should be able to buy a well built 7X14 with tandem axles for less than $4k. Check trailernut.com

Nice trailer. How did you get them to knock off $500 plus TT&L? (shows to be $4,399) I have asked the two that I have talked to if they will deal at all if I have cash in hand and they both said prices are firm.

Whatever you buy, I would have it insulated and have a couple of electrical plugs installed. Then you have a camper to sleep in.

Do you have an ag id? That will get you around the tax part. You just have to pay registration.

A trailer for hunting purposes does not qualify. You sign that form under the laws dealing with perjury. The fine makes the sales tax look like a bargain.

It was a while back. Ill have to pull out my sales order, maybe if I can send it to you it may help negotiate. I will look when I get home.
