Bucks have split from their bachelor group and some seemed to be trailing does but this is the first opening weekend I didn’t seen any bucks actively chasing. I have hunted Lee county for 15 years and the current place for 7. Last weekend had cold mornings but didn’t seem to matter. Anyone else around Lee, Bastrop counties see any chasing? We saw quite a few deer just nothing mature, maybe the up coming weekend will be better!

I’m in Gillespie County and Wilson. There was some chasing being done in Gillespie this past weekend. Not too much, but it looked like it was about to really kick off. In Wilson county a little further south, there was nothing at all.

SW Llano County here. I was expecting more rutting activity that I saw. Saw only two bucks from the stand that looked to even remotely have entered rut (slightly swollen necks and dark colored tarsel glands) I did see other bucks to and from the property by the side of the road early or late that seemed to be rutted up.

I saw one real nice buck in Gillespie County that looked to have a double main beam, at least on the left side. He would be a shooter for sure, if he would only travel 5 miles north...

I had to drive through a couple neighborhoods in New Braunfels today for work. I had to pull over and just watch them. Deer everywhere. Saw 3 bucks. 2 of the 3 were very actively chasing a group of does. One of the bucks had been able to separate a doe from the herd and was literally chasing and trotting after the doe all the way down the street. The third buck was interested (smelling - nose in the air) but not chasing like the other 2 that were harrassing the does. Frustrating to be that close to them and not be able to do anything. 2 of the bucks were big mature 5 yr old deer.

Just spoke to someone who lives in the area and he saw several bucks actively chasing this afternoon, Saturday morning sad should be a good hunt. I hope to see one of the mature deer I know are out there, can’t wait to get there tomorrow afternoon. Depending on what I see Saturday may be my first all day sit.

San Antonio is on. I was driving down my street last night when I saw this guy. He had a doe pinned down between two cars. He wasn't concerned with me at all. He was locked in. [Linked Image]

My FIL lives in Gruene. Amazing deer around there. Seen bucks fighting in his front yard.

Hunted all weekend and saw quite a few younger bucks chasing does but the older class deer have disappeared for now, did see one big mature buck on a neighboring property but he was trailing something in the opposite direction. A little strange for us especially considering the weather has been great. Another good cold front approaching so maybe next weekend will be better. Not complaining because it was nice to get away and sit in the woods, I was able to shoot a big boar pig right at dark Saturday evening so at least I know my gun is still on.

Saturday was dead in Eastern Comanche County. Sunday different story. Deer were running all about. This buck and another buck was chasing a doe several times over the day. Heading back at 11 am, I kicked up the doe and the 2 bucks over the open field.

Group Ran down a ravine and tried to stalk them.

I guess she was tired of the attention and ran right past me with the two on her tail. They froze about 40 feet from me as she ran past.

Dropped the 10 - really dark tarsals....

Congratulations, nice deer! I am hoping that this latest front gets some bigger bucks moving out our way.

They are running in Hays County. Harvested this one on November 8th. Had 4 bucks come in before daylight and this one right as the shooting light got good. 2 of the other bucks hanged around after I dropped him and didn’t bolt until after I got out of the blind.
