For you folks that applied for the public hunts in the RGV, they just announced today that they are planning to cull a bunch, what a coincidence, due to fever tick! It's on our local radio station right now. I'll post to see what dates they are planning!

I assume you are talking about the Nilgai eradication hunts that will be conducted via helicopter by the USDA. They were announced last week in a press release by the USDA. Unless you're a USDA employee I don't think you will have much luck getting on that hunt.

Well the Dr on the radio didn't elaborate on how many were being targeted and said he couldn't share any information but by the hints that were given its sounds like they are being conducted as of now! Well all these folks that applied and were selected are gonna have slim pickings!

Well they aren't doing any draw hunts out there this week so it is likely they are going to start right away.

Saw a report for 2018 that didn't include the teniente tract. A buddy and I are drawn for the first rifle hunt there at the end of January. Will have to call and ask what is going on.

They do it about every 2 years and usually target Laguna Atascosa but it wouldn't hurt to find out.

Confirmed it is happening at Laguna and Teniente tract is not included in the aerial eradication.

Because the Teniente tract is not inside the quarantine zone, Just Laguna.
