Our feeder is located to where the trees are much taller than before. And the feeder batteries are going dead after 2－3 weeks.

I believe this is due to the charging solar panel not getting enough Sun exposure.

Anyone knows or uses high capacity non－chargeable battery for feeders?

Even without a solar panel, regular 6v or 12v last much longer than 3 weeks! Normally months.

Ive had 12 volt last all season without a panel. 6 volts only make it a couple weeks for us without.

That said we have had some panels that kept batteries hot for years and years heavily shaded under oak trees. I would check to make sure the panel is still connected and is charging.

This has been driving me crazy. We have 2 feeders having this problem.

I thought the solar panel went out on me, and I replaced one panel last year. That did not help.

So we are saying a 6v battery should last 4 weeks by itself? I may just have to swap batteries every 2 weeks for now. This is the $9 battery from Academy if that makes any difference.

I have been slowly converting all my 6 volt feeders to 12 volt as they have issues or need work. Most timers on the market today will work on either 6 or 12 volt so the only thing that you really need to change is the motor and you can make it all season without swaping batteries or just to be safe could swap it or pull and charge it 1/2 way through. Only cost me $20 and an hour or so time to convert ours to 12v.

If you have room for two batteries in the box you could also hook up 2 batteries in parallel, keeps your volts the same but should have double the life.
