South of Bowie. Having to work on a tractor so can’t hunt. Haven’t even heard a shot.

North of Bowie, I had good action yesterday and today and hinted same stand. Son wasn't in ready in time for a shooter. I told him you have 5 seconds or he is gone.... Other stands completely dead.

Eastern Erath, Chalk mountain area here. Been a good weekend as far as movement goes. All 3 bucks that we've seen were cruising and skittish. TxDuckman, you're right. 5 seconds is usually all the time you have. Later in the season you might catch them in a food plot or at a feeder, but for now they are on the move. Need to be able to identify a shooter. Quickly. Good luck all!
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

What I don’t understand is not hearing any shots in the area. Heard none this afternoon. Never happened on opening weekend

It is an early opening. All we saw in Montague is pre-rut. Next weekend is more prime time for the rut until the next weekend. Bucks are just cruising so shot window is almost nothing. They just walked by does 50 yards away not stopping. Only little young guys actually chased. I heard one close shot today and one yesterday but pigs are everywhere. Acorns are a bumper crop.

Granddaughter and I hunted yesterday afternoon. Saw nothing and heard no shots. Trying again this morning.

Same this morning; nothing. Quit and came home. Never had an opening where the whole area was silent.

Saw nothing all day Saturday. Decided to pick the horns up Sunday morning. Rattled in 5 different bucks, 1 shooter which hung up and skirted me, 1 was already busted up bad. Eastland County.
