And this boar made the mistake of getting out of bed before any deer showed up.. We’re overrun with them, they don’t get a pass even on opening morning.. Do you all shoot pigs or let them be on opening day?
This big black one is still running around out there...

It's catch 22 for me, I like to keep the number of shots fired down until after the rut but my new lease is proving to have far too many hogs. I may just suspend deer hunting and shoot every hog I see for a couple of weeks.
I have shot pigs on several occasions and then waiting, hoping more pigs would show up only to have deer show up. A gun shot won't scare away the deer for very long, assuming any are actually close by. More than likely the deer will not stay around a long as the hog is around, however, and the hog will likely eat much of your bait in the process.

I shot a Sow Saturday evening pretty late. Figured it likely ruined my deer hunting for the remaining 30 minutes of light. Waited until dark to drag the pig out. Checked game camera the next day and much to my surprise there was a buck under the feeder exactly 12 minutes after I left....dragging the pig behind my vehicle.
I saved both videos (me leaving with hog and buck feeding 12 minutes later), so yes...sometimes it doesn't bother them. Of course... it was after hours (dark) when this happened.
I was getting in the stand a couple weeks ago and just as I was opening the windows there stood a sow and a boar down one of my lanes, long story short I shot the sow that was at 7:17 am. Exactly 6 minutes later a doe walked right across the sow laying on the ground. Two minutes after that a buck walks out. At the moment didn’t realize how quick everything happened until I looked at my pics and videos. So I’m not going to say that a gun shot will ruin your hunt. At least not that time.
I take a .22 mag with me also as a pig gun and gut shoot them just like a coyote that way they run off and don't die by the feeder. Deer don't seem to mind much.
